Purify water from diverse sources for healthier communities. Ultrafiltration technology ensures safety from bacteria and viruses.
There are many ways to decontaminate water which is from open wells, deep wells, river water, or rainwater.
As there is not too much industrialization in Uganda, the problem with heavy metals or chemicals in water is not that big, but the contamination by bacteria, germs, and viruses is the first concern of Gaia Africa Initiative.
In 2005 an Austrian engineer Mr. Ernst Hauseder developed a filter unit with ultrafiltration, which can operate with handpumps or with an electric pump when electricity is available. That Idea Herbert Bloder picked up and built the first units in 2009 in Uganda and now we have units in thirteen schools with a population of about 7.000 children together.
Another option for healthy disinfection of bacteria or virus-contaminated water is the method with CD (Chlorin Dioxide) or with CDS (Chlorine Dioxide Solution)
